The Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) has selected hospitality reputation data powerhouse Olery to strengthen its position as a preferred travel destination.

“We need a world-class system to provide us with accurate data and industry insights,” said SCTDA Director General HE Khalid Jasim Al Midfa when announcing the UAE state’s new collaboration with Olery. “Olery has established itself in the Middle East as a trusted partner of tourism authorities and a reliable provider of travel data.

Setting up a strong analytical framework is part of the SCTDA’s development strategy. To accurately chart growth and meet future goals, the authority will leverage Olery’s real-time data tools and impactful reporting on Sharjah’s hotel performance.

Sharjah has shown remarkable tourism growth in recent years, and has a long history of international recognition for its culture and history: The emirate was named UNESCO’s Cultural Capital of the Arab World in 1998, and Islamic Culture Capital in 2014. Most recently, Sharjah was crowned the 2015 Arab Tourism Capital.

“We believe that the insights and expertise provided by Olery will immensely benefit our hospitality and tourism industry,” said Al Midfa upon signing the agreement with Olery CEO Kim van den Wijngaard.

Olery’s hospitality monitoring system analyses online traveler reviews to provide insights into the performance of hotels and destinations. It provides a ready, dashboard analysis with guest feedback, offering clients a quick and comprehensive overview. For benchmarking, Olery’s Guest Experience Index™ is the only scientifically backed quality measure in the hospitality industry, developed in cooperation with VU University in Amsterdam.

In addition to Sharjah, Olery also serves other tourism authorities in the Middle East: Bahrain, Qatar, and Abu Dhabi.
